Kennedy's free tools - what, where, when

1. Accessible Color Generator
URL: https://www.learnui.design/tools/accessible-color-generator.html
What: given a brand color and a background, finds the closest variations of that color that pass WCAG contrast - instead of forcing you to abandon the brand hue.
When (our workflow): at the palette check, before token-audit - any time text or UI color sits on a tinted background, or a country brand color fails contrast on white. Fixes the "luminosity is unequal across hues" problem (see color.md) mechanically.
2. Data Visualization Color Picker
URL: https://www.learnui.design/tools/data-color-picker.html
What: generates chart palettes in three regimes - multi-hue categorical, single-hue sequential scale, and divergent (two-hue) scale.
When: boards, cockpits, towers, any chart with >2 series or a value ramp. Categorical for kinds, sequential for magnitudes, divergent for above/below-a-center data. Companion article:
Picking Colors for Your Data Visualizations.
3. Gradient Generator
URL: https://www.learnui.design/tools/gradient-generator.html
What: linear/radial/conic gradients interpolated to be visually smooth (avoids the gray dead zone of naive two-color CSS gradients); exports CSS or SVG.
When: rare, by appetite - a hero band or floor fade on a public leaflet. If a gradient is wanted at all, it comes from here, not hand-typed stops.
4. Mesh Gradient Generator
URL: https://www.learnui.design/tools/mesh-gradient-generator.html
What: soft blurred 2-D mesh gradients; one-click SVG/Figma export. Companion article:
Technique Deep Dive: Mesh Gradients.
When: almost never for our genre - decorative backgrounds for showcase/marketing pages only; never behind body text.
5. Interactive Typography Tutorial
URL: https://www.learnui.design/tools/typography-tutorial.html
What: gamified exercises in font selection and text styling.
When: training material for humans, not a workflow step. Listed for completeness.
Delta vs our system
CONFIRMS - the tools operationalize rules we already hold: contrast verification (Teletubbies legibility), restraint with decoration (appetite).
ADDS - we currently check contrast by eye or generic checkers that say fail without proposing the nearest pass; tool 1 closes that loop. We have no chart-palette method at all; tool 2 + its article give us one.
TENSION - none; tools 3–4 simply need our appetite rule as a leash.
