The one sentence that names the finding

Reading time, 8 minutes

The question

Open with what was asked and why it mattered, in the words a reader outside the field would use. One paragraph, no preamble, no announcement of what the page will do.

The second paragraph gives the shape of the answer, so a reader who stops here still leaves with the finding.

The finding

State the result plainly. Every number carries its unit and its date, and any figure that came from somewhere else carries a link at the words that name it.

A short block for a condition, a caveat or a limit. Use it rarely, so it keeps its weight.

How it was done

The method, in the order it happened. A picture belongs here rather than a description of a picture.

a figure goes here
Replace with a real figure. Caption says what the reader should see in it, not what it is called.

What it changes

Who can now do what, and what remains out of reach.

What is next

The open questions, named honestly, and how someone reaches you about them.
