# interfaces.dev — the model: a page that measures itself in front of you **Source.** [interfaces.dev](https://interfaces.dev/) · captured headless at 1440×900 on 15-08-2026 · a magazine about interface details, by Jakub Krehel. **What it is.** A written magazine about what makes an interface feel good. Its own first screen is the argument: the title is annotated like a file open in a design tool — a colour chip reading `oklch(0.991 0 0)`, a label pointing at the **x-height**, a selection box around one word reading `294 × 58`, the name of the serif under it, a pink strip showing `32 px` of space above the button, and the button itself tagged « Call To Action ». Ground `#fcfcfc`. Nothing is dark. --- ## The three things to copy **Annotate the real element, never a drawing of it.** Every label points with a thin leader line at the actual live title, the actual button, the actual gap. The reader learns the word (x-height, call to action, 32 px) while looking at the thing it names. This is our own « show, don't label » rule, executed better than we execute it. **Let the reader move one value and watch.** Further down, a padding demonstration carries « Show values », « Hide guides » and a width figure the reader can change; the box redraws as they do. A rule that can be moved is remembered; a rule that is stated is skimmed. **A serif word inside a sans sentence.** « Magazine » in Libre Baskerville italic under two lines of grotesque; « I think *a lot* about… » with the two words in the serif, underlined. One face carries the argument, the other carries the feeling, in the same line. ## What we refuse **Annotations everywhere.** On this page they are the subject. On a teaching page about a service they would be noise: use them only where the page is explaining its own construction — the compendium, the design rules, a page about type. **The subscription frame.** Log in, Subscribe, a paywall around the deeper pieces. We take the grammar, not the business. --- ## Where it sits Here in the bank as a model, and in [the sources list](../references.md) as something to read: it is a magazine about the small details that make an interface feel finished, which is the layer above our own rules.
