# L'étape d'après — the model: a photograph as the room, one italic word as the accent **Source.** [letape-dapres.fr](https://letape-dapres.fr/) · captured headless at 1440×900 on 15-08-2026 · banked on Frank's word: *« a very good site which can serve as a model, and a school for AI agents »*. **What it is.** A French school for people who already use AI and want to leave the chat window behind: five phases, seventeen chapters, twenty-six ready skills, thirty-five notes, a weekly letter, a manifesto. One of its skills, `writing-unslop`, is installed here and sits on [the register page](../../../register/index.html). --- ## What the eye meets **The whole first screen is one photograph.** A person seen from behind, laptop open, on a rock above a valley of city lights at dusk. Not a stock illustration and not a gradient: a place, with a person in it, and the person is doing the thing the site teaches. The text sits on the picture, top left, with room to breathe. **One word carries the accent.** The title is set in a display serif (Instrument Serif); every word is white except **d'après**, in italic and in orange. One word, one colour, one slant — and the promise of the site is in it. **The body is a plain sans.** IBM Plex Sans, at a comfortable size, with the audience named in the same orange inside the sentence: « Que tu sois **Product Manager, marketeur, commercial, CSM ou fondateur** ». The reader finds themselves in the second line. **A floating panel of dates.** Top right, over the photograph, a translucent card headed « EN CE MOMENT » with three entries, each with its kind (the notebook, the newsletter, a new skill) and its date. It is the only place on the first screen where anything is dated, and it says the site is alive. **Counts in the menu.** Apprendre 14 · La Loop 4 · Notes 35 · Skills 26 · Newsletter 16. Each number sits small beside its word, with a dot when something is new. The size of the place is legible before a single click. --- ## What we would copy **The dated panel over the hero.** Three items, each with a kind and a date, floating on the picture. It fills the hole every studio page has: nothing tells the reader what changed lately. **The number beside the menu word.** Cheap to add, and it answers « how much is in there » before the click. Our own front door could carry it. **One accented word in the title.** A single italic word in the accent colour, in a display serif, against otherwise plain type. It is the smallest possible way to make a title feel designed. **Naming the reader inside the sentence.** Not « for professionals » but the list of jobs, in the accent colour, in the sentence itself. ## What we would refuse **The dark opening, unless the picture earns it.** The site's ground is light (`#fafaf7`); only the hero is dark, because it is a photograph of dusk. Copying the darkness without a photograph of that quality gives a heavy page and nothing else. Our rule stands: light everywhere, and a dark band only when a real image is the reason. **The familiar tone.** It says « tu » to its reader and writes for a French audience of founders and marketers. Our pages speak to ministries and to citizens; the warmth is copied, the familiarity is not. --- ## Where it sits in the studio Twice, because it is two things. As a **school**, on [the skills page](../../../skills.html), under « where other people's skills come from » — we have already installed one of its skills. As a **model**, here in the bank.
